Since inmates lose their right to privacy, all incoming and outgoing mail is censored by the prison.  In addition, certain things are considered "contraband" and are returned or destroyed, such as news clippings, cut-outs, objects, etc.  Entire papers, magazines, etc., are not.  The prison decides each case.  Telephone contact and casual visits are never allowed.
