Job Description
GENERAL
Support and work with Parish Respect
Life Representative(s).
Coordinate with diocesan and deanery
Beginning of Life Issues chairs.
Attend deanery and diocesan meetings
and events.
Make your parish a pro-life parish by
doing what you can in the following ways:
1. PRAYER
Sponsor parish prayer for an end to
and reparation for abortion
 |
National Night of
Prayer for Life, December 8, annually |
|
Begin a living rosary for
an end to abortion |
|
Prayer at local abortuaries
|
|
Pilgrimages and Prayer
Walks, diocesan and other |
|
Make sure there is a
pro-life intention at every Sunday Mass |
|
Encourage pastor to bless
expectant mothers at Sunday Mass |
|
Organize parish observance
of January 22 anniversary of Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision to
legalize abortion |
|
Conduct Spiritual Adoption
Program |
2. EDUCATION
Keep parish informed on issues for
mothers and babies via:
|
Ongoing parish information
nights (perhaps one or two per year) |
|
Parish pro-life newsletter,
quarterly or monthly (if available) |
|
Advertise and sponsor
seminars, conferences, youth talks |
|
Maintain a parish pro-life
library of books, tapes, and videos |
|
Keep parish info racks
stocked with pro-life brochures on local Pregnancy Care Centers,
Project Rachel, general information, and educational materials |
|
Make sure there is a
pro-life quote in every bulletin, from the "Word of Life" or
other source, i.e. the Holy Father or the Bishops |
|
Disseminate information on
local or diocesan calendar of pro-life programs and activities |
|
Help promote Project Rachel
for post-abortion reconciliation and healing |
3. ACTION
|
Hold annual baby or
maternity showers or fundraisers for local pregnancy center, Gabriel
Project, or maternity home |
|
Encourage donations to
above, including financial and volunteer work |
|
Coordinate with Legislative
chair on Action Alerts with phone/e-mail tree and other legislative
action |
|
Plan, fund, and construct a
memorial to the unborn on parish property, and maintain it with
volunteers planting, etc. |
|
Conduct Pennies for Babies Program in parishes. |
