What Can I Do?

 

The Respect Life Department recommends a model of PRAYER - STUDY - ACTION.  Some practical suggestions for following this model:

 

  1. The most important thing you can do is PRAY.  Pray for the respect for all human life from conception (fertilization) until a natural death. See the Prayers & Faith page for more information.

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."    2 Chronicles 7:14

  1. It is very important to STUDY Church teaching on the life issues.  Start with the The Gospel of Life and the Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities.  These documents can be studied by individuals and families, and we encourage the formation of parish-based small group study.

  1. JOIN your parish Respect Life Ministry.  There are many ways to help, big and small, depending on your availability and talents.  Contact the Pastor or Parish Respect Life Rep for more information.

  1. Be a VOLUNTEER.  Help is needed in many areas of Respect Life.  Contact your Parish Respect Life Rep or the Diocesan Respect Life Department for more information.

Specific Requests for Volunteers:

The Respect Life Department in Venice needs help with quarterly mailings and other office work.  Call Jeanne at 941-484-9543, ext. 3045.

We need volunteers for Gabriel Project/Project Gabriel.

Our Mother’s House, a home to support pregnant women and teens in Venice, is in need of male and female volunteers of all ages to offer childcare. Call  941-485-6264.

Pregnancy Resource Centers, located in various communities, are always in need of dedicated and caring volunteers.

  1. CHARITABLE DONATIONS are always needed.  Your generosity in supporting pro-life organizations and ministries helps to insure that their financial and material needs are met so that the important life-affirming work to may continue.  Locally, we suggest supporting Pennies for Babies, Gabriel Project, Pregnancy Resources Centers in your area.
